Larsen's view of America's problem:

The problem is that Americans always get exactly what they want. Whatever the candidates believe or say they believe, once elected they do what the people order them to do. America's march into totalitarianism has been a social event, caused by various influences on public opinion, such as religion, public education and the entertainment and news media. The politicians have played a minor role and only done what they could convince the people to demand. That's why I have always insisted that my campaign efforts are more educational than political. Until the people are ready to return to the Constitution, my election won't restore it, and when they are ready they won't need me. That's why it is so silly to talk about saving a people from their government. Even Hitler did only the will of his people. Likewise Hussein. The violence in Iraq is a vote against American occupation. There was no such violence voting against Hussein. Have we forgotten the widespread ownership of arms under Hussein? People almost always get as much tyranny as they are willing, collectively, to tolerate. You cannot free voluntary slaves. Bush and Kerry are just being obedient. The real evil is the voter, voting for the lesser of evils.

Did anyone remember to re-read the Declaration of Independence yesterday? I liked the part about the pursuit of happiness. I'm probably some kind of a freak, because I still believe and preach that stuff. I still believe we all have equal rights, even those accused of terrorism. Sometimes, I feel like a lemming, trying to tell everyone they are running the wrong way. And yet, I believe these eternal truths are still there, waiting to be awakened, deep within the hearts of most Americans.
