Thank you for this opportunity to inform the voters of my views.

Question 1. As Governor, what do you believe to be the major issue facing this state, and how are you going to deal with this issue?

As Governor, I believe the most important thing I can do for Utah is to work towards returning our society to the ideals and principles of our Founders. As they so eloquently said, the only just purpose of government is to protect the equal individual rights to life, liberty, property and the free harmless pursuit of happiness. I will work to restore your freedom to choose your own life as long as you cause no harm. I will work to restore your constitutional freedoms to own a gun, marry whom you will, worship how you will and take into your own body what you will, provided you harm no unwilling victim and accept full responsibility for your free agency. It is not the job of government to take care of you and tell you what to do. It is my job, as Governor to protect you and your property from those, including government, who may threaten you.

Question 2. What is your position on education vouchers for families who choose non-public education alternatives for their children, and why?

I agree with Brigham Young, the State's founder, that education is too important to trust in the hands of government. I support the proposal to reward those parents who are wise enough to save their children from the public indoctrination centers. I would give them half the money they save the State by sending their children to private educators. Eventually, I would hope the superiority of the private system would bring an end to government education, and the repeal of the parts of our State Constitution, forced on Utah by the Congress of the United States, that require government to provide education. We must stop teaching our children that the government should take care of them.
