I do not speak for the Personal Choice Party. Each candidate decides how to
interpret the two-word party platform: "Personal Choice."
These are my personal views.
Article I, Section 27 or the Utah State Constitution says, "Frequent
recurrence to fundamental principles is essential to the security of
individual rights and the perpetuity of free government."
I think the writers of the Utah Constitution were referring to the 5
fundamental principles in the Declaration of Independence. I think they
intended that I, as Governor, will weigh every issue by these principles:
1. We are all equal. We do not have slaves under our control, or
masters who live at the expense of others.
2. We all have rights that must not be violated. Those rights include
life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The pursuit of happiness means
that until you are causing harm or endangerment to others, your personal
choices must be respected. Hence, the logo of the
Personal Choice Party is the
smiley face, your right to your own pursuit of your own happiness.
3. The only just purpose of government is to secure the individual
rights of the people. It is not the job of government to tell you how to
live or to take care of you. It is the job of government to get out of your
way and keep the majority from making personal choices for you.
4. All the just power of government comes from the people. We are not
one nation under God. We are one nation under the people. Then we, the
people, are individually free to decide how, or if, we will relate to the
supernatural. Instead of the people pledging allegiance to the government,
the officers of the government should be pledging allegiance to the people
and their Constitution.
5. When the government goes beyond this mandate, it is the right and
the duty of the people to fix it, including abolishment and replacement,
when necessary.
The purpose of the Personal Choice Party is to help the people
peacefully take back their lives. I oppose government control of your life.
I am against gun control, business control, education control, marriage
control
(No on 3), drug control, adult entertainment control, and any other
attempt by the majority to violate the inalienable rights of the minority.
